GIVE THE GIFT OF LEARNING …ONE CHILD AT A TIME!
As part of our Outreach efforts for 2012 at Epiphany, we would like to be able to sponsor a child at the Latin Patriarch School in Palestine. The school is supported by St Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Zebabdeh and by Educate for Hope, through the Diocese of Los Angeles. The school teaches in English and Hebrew and the cost of one child’s education for a year is $700.  To start the process of raising the funds to sponsor a child, there will be a special collection today. Please consider making a contribution so that others can have the gift of education. Every donation, however small will make a difference.  Let us celebrate our community at Epiphany with a gift to our sisters and brothers in Christ. Come to the cake table in the Bishop’s hall to make your donation. Thank you

EYG (Epiphany Youth Group)

Tolerance in Los Angeles.  We need drivers and RSVPs by Monday, January 9. Please RSVP to Laurie Burns either by e-mail or phone (310) 948 1484.

Outreach

Thank you to all of you who helped make December’s Conejo Free Meals Program a success. Due to the cold weather and the overnight program, we had a huge number of clients; due to the generosity of our parish, we were able to feed them all.  We are scheduled to cater again on Tuesday, January 10.  Please bring extra food if possible; even though the weather isn’t as cold, the overnight program has increased the numbers of clients. Again, if you have friends or neighbors who would like to join us in giving food or service, this would be a great month to introduce them to the program.  As usual, please deliver your food between 6:00 and 6:15 pm.  We will serve between 6:30 and 7:15 pm at our usual location in the main hall at Calvary Community Church.  If you can donate food or service, please contact me.  Thanks!  -Elizabeth evb@speakeasy.net  805.498.4499

MANNA: The C. V. Food Bank needs non-perishable super market items: food, toiletries, diapers, paper towels. Your generous support is always appreciated by MANNA’s recipients.  You can drop it by on Sundays or in the church office

OWLs (Older, Wiser laity)

Our next event is at noon on Thursday, January 12, 2012.  We will once again enjoy lunch and some social time together followed by a very special one-woman presentation by Martha Miller.

Martha will be performing her show entitled Anne Morrow Lindbergh: A Gentle Woman of Quiet Strength.  This presentation focuses on the wife of aviator Charles Lindbergh who balanced, with grace and sensitivity (and not without challenge), three worlds: home and family, aviation, and a gifted literary career. Listen to Anne’s story, through her own words. You will be fascinated, but even more: you will want to apply her wisdom to your own life.

Please feel free to invite friends or neighbors who might be interested in Martha’s presentation. Lunch will be catered (for $10 per person), so please call Dave Burrows in the church office to RSVP before Monday, January 9th.

Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you!
